A Message from the Union of Concerned Scientists
Last year, 26 major corporations-including General Electric, Ford Motor Company, and Duke Energy-called on Congress to pass aggressive climate legislation that will help significantly reduce global warming pollution. These leaders recognize that implementing solutions to global warming is smart for business. Strong climate policy will spur investments in clean energy technologies, create new jobs, and reduce our dependence on oil.
Now, small businesses are joining this call to action. Congress needs to hear directly from the business community that we can protect the climate and boost the economy at the same time. Please urge local businesses and your local Chamber of Commerce to sign our call to action today.
If you own a business, please sign the letter. If you don’t own a business, please print a copy of the letter (pdf) and ask businesses in your community to sign. Businesses may sign the letter by filling out the online form at http://www.ucsusa.org/forms/business-sign-on.html or emailing their information to mla@ucsusa.org.
Then urge your local Chamber of Commerce to sign on as well.
We need your help to spread the word. Together, we can prevent dangerous warming while we grow the U.S. economy.
Sincerely,
Kate Abend

First Post – Welcome to the Santa Fe CoolBiz Blog
Our purpose in adding this blog to our CoolBiz campaign is build a learning community of Santa Fe businesses. We define this learning community as a group of business leaders who inform, teach, collaborate, and advise other business leaders about energy reduction, energy efficiency, and “green” business options.
For example, a hotel may have discovered a practice that reduces water use. By posting their solution on our blog, other lodging businesses may adopt or adapt the practice to improve their business. Similarly, a B+B may be concerned about water use and post a request for information, ideas, or “lessons Learned” from businesses that may have already implemented a solution.
We believe that providng links and downloadable documents is useful, but engaging others in a an ongoing dialogue will produce the best results for your bottom-line and our environment. We look forward to hearing from you!
